What's a Curly Cut and How do you go about this service?
A Curly Cut is a service tailored towards clients with all types of curly and textured hair. A Curly Cut appointment consists of an in depth consultation to determine hair goals, current needs, shape and amount of length desired to be cut off. I cut and shape the hair in its natural,dry state in a similar fashion to DEVAcurl or Rizo Curls techniques. I'll Detox, Cleanse, Condition, Detangle and Style your curls using products that will work with your texture. This service takes anywhere between 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on your texture, hair density, hair needs and goals as well as how long it takes to diffuse your hair.

Are you Curly Cut Certified??
Yes, I was certified in 2018 with Aishia Strickland + Aeleise Ollarvia of Black Girl Curls. I also have naturally curly, wavy hair. I've been working with textured hair of all types since 2010 receiving product and hair education with Design Essentials. The majority of my clientele is wavy 2A to curly and coarse 3C.

What's A Gloss??
It can be as transparent as a toner for blondes or as deep and rich as needed for your current color. There's also a clear shine available if you don't want there to be a hue to it. Gloss or Toner is not permanent and fades within 4-6 weeks. It not only adds shine but offers a bit of treatment as well! A Gloss service can be a stand alone appointment and is included in all blonding services.

A brightener is an add on service for highlights. It is a 5 minute process that is applied at your roots after your highlights have been rinsed. It gently lightens your natural root to soften the transition between your natural and fresh highlights. This service can be added when you are naturally dark blonde or a light brunette. It only slightly shifts your natural color and does not make it as blonde as your highlights.

Balayage is a free hand technique of painting the lightener on the hair to achieve a sunkissed look. A Partial is half of the head (traditionally, the top front) and a Full is all over the head. Toner is included in your service.

I was born and raised in Southern California and moved to Texas in 2014. Since I spent so much time on the beach, my hair artistry is very natural, bright, flowy, textured and low maintenance while still elevated. I'm best known for my beachy waves style outs and bright blondes.

You are located in Deep Ellum, is it safe??
YES! The studio is locked and only clients can access entrance into My Salon Suites. The parking garage is also secured and patrolled by Platinum Parking. Deep Ellum is centrally located near most freeways so that clients can get in and out of downtown easily. I have clients from Kaufman to Tyler and Waxahachie to Highland Park and Plano. Deep Ellum Safe also patrols 24/7. Fun things to do before or after your appointment is to visit some of the shops + restaurants throughout the neighborhood:

How Should I Prepare for My Appointment?
If you're booked for a Curly Cut and devote time to always going through CGM, come styled. If you sometimes follow CGM but mostly air dry and don't spend a whole lot of time styling your hair, come as you are. I want to see how YOU live in your hair day to day and we'll go over hair goals and what is realistic for your at home routine and expectations.
If you're booked for a Brow Wax, do not use Retin A or Retinol within 48 hours of your wax appointment. I use a soft wax that's formulated for sensitive skin.
If you're booked for Makeup, please come with no make up on, fresh faced and moisturized. If you'd like to bring your own makeup, you're more than welcome to. Otherwise, I have an entire professional kit. I use brands like Smashbox, Nars, Morphe, Dior, Givenchy, Ardell, Fenty etc. I shop at Sephora/Ulta when replenishing my kit.

YES! JM STYLE HOUSE is a private studio and I only take one appointment at a time. If you need to work through your appointment, rather be scrolling through social media or just wanting to relax and be in your head; Yes, your appointment can be silent! Just let me know ahead of time that's what you prefer :)

I am Certified in Beaded i-tip, Tape ins, Keratin Tip, No Sew Wefts and can custom make clip ins. I will do my best to work with your budget and have various hair vendors I can order.
Complimentary Consultations can be booked to go over length, color and type of install.
Hair must be paid for in FULL before I place the order. Sometimes I can get hair same day but most of the time it takes 3-7 days. Your install appointment can be booked accordingly. Depending on goals and type, installs can take from 1 hour, on.
